In my contemporary writing course, I have immensely apprehended how to better articulate and communicate the ideas at hand. The curriculum has taught me how to more professionally structure my work and arguments and through expressing and thinking through what I promote in my essays, has sanctioned even more insight into concepts I am passionate about.  This course has additionally enlightened me on how to slow down when writing and think and consider the intention behind my language. I have certainly faced my share of adversities when writing the various essays. As previously stated, this course has tremendously improved my ability to communicate my ideas, particularly in my body paragraphs where the most information is. Whilst writing my essays, however, I either came across the struggle of knowing what I wanted to convey and not knowing the best way to put it into my own words or not being able to think of what small but crucial details regarding the topic I could include. This problem of communication would also come about after researching what kind of details I should include because I would then have to decipher how to best pass them on without them being too abstract or being too long to reasonably be within the length of the essay or section. An important component of making your argument is being able to convey it in a way that makes it not too extensive which I feel I fail to do. Additionally, although the usage of ethos, pathos, and logos is essential when promoting one's argument, I feel as though my employment of them can be superficial or only loosely using them. This can be seen in my proposal argument where I attempt to employ the usage of ethos by citing a study conducted by 2 real psychologists. While the authenticity of the psychologists sufficiently utilizes ethos, the cited study only loosely supports the notion I am promoting in my argument.

Mcleod utilizes not only evidence tdemonstrate the validity of his case but also portrays that the logical conclusion behind the soundness of both perspectives of nature and nurture culminates into his position. With this in mind, logos is the main form of persuasive technique employed by Mcleod. The reading specifically portrays evidence for the extreme ends of both perspectives, nativism, and empiricism. This can be seen when the author lists examples of past psychologists who held radical views on either end and performed experiments to validate their perspective.

According to Catarina Cabrita and Ana Patricia Duarte on Frontiers in Psychology, their study reports ‘’direct positive relationships between harmonious passion and affective well-being at work’’ (Cabrita&Duarte, 2023). Presently, because human labor is still needed for various types of work, and the materialistic circumstances are not yet sufficient for a UBI to be applicable, people are commonly forced to undergo labor they are dispassionate about to make ends meet.
